A small correction – the student center was the Chesham, previously a hotel on Surrey Street.
The name Friends of King’s College for the USA branch followed the pattern set by the Canadian Friends of King’s College, which was the first overseas alumni branch. I was involved in its founding and suggested the name. I worked at McMaster University, and we had a Friends of McMaster University in the USA. Like Brigid, I was elected as a fellow in 1988. Our founding president was Ken Hare, previously head of geography at King’s.
Thank you for the correction Alexander, we will update the name 🙂
Also, really great to know about the origin of the FoKCLA and your involvement too. Congrats and many thanks for all your work in keeping the alumni engagement running.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any stories you’d like to share as well.
Best wishes,

I think ‘The Chatham’ must be ‘The Chesham? Hope it’s not my memory at fault!
Thank you very much. We will update the text.
Best regards,

Brava Brigid! What a remarkable career and I was glad to be part of it.
