Sir John Major
In February 2024, former UK Prime Minister, Sir John Major, spoke at King's annual Celebration of Student Success event. Sir Major discussed the importance of higher education and why creating a fair society is 'crucial to social harmony' in our country and across the world.

Ed Miliband & Theresa May
In December 2023, the Policy Institute welcomed former UK Prime Minister, Theresa May, and Shadow Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband for an insightful summit on climate change policy. May and Miliband were joined by a range of expert speakers and academics to discuss the outcomes of COP28 and King's role in creating a more sustainable future. Afshin Ahmadian
Afshin Ahmadian (Mechatronics, 2007), the first Iranian to sail across the world, visited Bush House in February 2024 to tell his extraordinary story, share a few memories from his 11-month adventure across the globe and talk about how his time at King's shaped who he is today.

Dr Vickki Harmer AKC
In the last issue of InTouch, we met Dr Vickki Harmer AKC (Nursing, 1997; Doctorate in Healthcare, 2015), a Consultant Nurse and breast cancer awareness advocate. A proud King's alum, Dr Harmer returned to King's in January 2024 to speak at our Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care graduation ceremony. Read our interview with Vickki here.

Andrew Hauser
In November 2023, King's welcomed Andrew Hauser, Executive Director for Markets at the Bank of England, to the Qatar Centre for Global Banking and Finance conference. Hauser discussed the impact technological changes could have on central banks and warned of the associated risks. Read more about the event here.

His Excellency Antônio Patriota
His Excellency Antônio Patriota, Brazilian Ambassador visited Bush House in November 2023 to deliver King's Brazil Institute's Inaugural Lecture. Patriota's talk focused on Brazil's return to the international diplomatic scene, the country's importance as a biodiversity hotspot and more. 'Brazil is back' says country's top diplomat in UK.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton
Air Chief Marshal, Sir Richard Knighton spoke at the Freeman Air and Space Institute's third annual CAS lecture last November. Sir Knighton addressed the current challenges the RAF is facing, and why the RAF needs to be 'ready to do more' amidst ongoing world conflict. RAF needs to adapt as world becomes more unstable, says Chief of the Air Staff.

The Honourable Matt Keogh
Last November, The Honourable Matt Keogh, Australian Minister of Veterans' Affairs and Minister for Defence Personnel, along with a delegation from the Australian government, met with researchers from the King's Centre for Military Health Research (KCMHR) and the Forces in Mind Trust Research Centre to hear about both centres' research and support for veterans. Park Jin, CBE
Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Korea, Park Jin CBE, met with King's academics and postgraduate students last September for a roundtable discussion to mark the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and the UK. Lord O'Shaughnessy
King's Clinical Research Facility and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience welcomed Lord O'Shaughnessy, former Health Minister, to our campus last September. Lord O'Shaughnessy visited psychedelic treatment rooms where he learned more about our teams' world-leading research projects and upcoming clinical trials. Find out more about the visit.

His Excellency Mr José Pascual Marco Martínez
King's Libraries welcomed guests, including the Spanish ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Mr José Pascual Marco Martínez, to the September 2023 launch of a new King's Libraries exhibition - Impressions of Spain in the 1830s. It includes original artworks never previously exhibited in public in the UK. Read about the exhibition here.
