His Majesty The King

His Majesty The King smiles during a visit to Guy's Cancer Centre.

His Majesty The King visited our pioneering Innovation Hub, where King’s College London scientists are driving research into cancer. 

Taking place at Guy’s Cancer Centre, the visit formed part of the 300th anniversary of Guy’s Hospital. His Majesty King Charles III, who is Royal Patron of King’s College London, met with members of King’s senior leadership, leading academics and PhD students who are pushing the boundaries of cancer research. 

Sir Grayson Perry

We were delighted to welcome Turner Prize and BAFTA award-winning artist Sir  Grayson  Perry to King’s in March as the speaker for the 2026 Rumble Fund Lecture. Titled Why I hate Classical Civilisation, the sold-out talk challenged long‑held assumptions about culture, authority and power.

Jimmy Wales

Jimmy Wales delivers a lecture at King's College London

Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia, visited King’s in April for a public conversation on trust and knowledge in the age of generative AI. Hosted by the King’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence, the event brought together students, staff and members of the public to discuss the future of shared knowledge, concluding with a panel discussion and Q&A.

Ayshah Tull

The award-winning Channel  4 News health correspondent, Ayshah Tull (Geography, 2008), chaired a King’s Expert Series event on health in an insecure world. She led a panel discussion with King’s academics examining how conflict and insecurity affect health systems, policy and workforce resilience, and the role of research in improving outcomes.

Emily Berrington

King’s welcomed Emily Berrington (Development Geography, 2008) to campus for How to… Communicate with Confidence, part of King’s International Women’s Day programme. The actor, coach and nonprofit director shared insights on finding your voice, drawing on experience across politics, performance and advocacy. She also ran a four-part series of student workshops for the Let Them Talk series, focusing on practical exercises for developing communication skills for real-world situations.

Howard Dawber OBE

The King’s AI Summit was pleased to receive a keynote speech from Deputy Mayor of London for Business and Growth, Howard Dawber OBE (German with French, 1991). The event also welcomed Baroness Martha Lane-Fox, Chair London’s AI and Jobs Taskforce. The summit discussed the impact of automation on jobs, good governance, and who gains from AI and who gets left behind.

We were pleased to welcome The Rt Hon. Baroness Smith of Malvern, Minister for Skills, Jacqui Smith to King’s to launch the Government’s new International Education Strategy. The Minister joined a round table hosted by our Vice Chancellor, Professor Shitij Kapur, where she heard from colleagues and international students involved in King’s transnational education programmes.

Shini Muthukrishnan

We were delighted to welcome television presenter and broadcaster Shini Muthukrishnan (Philosophy, Politics & Economics, 2023) to present the King’s Distinguished Alumni Awards 2026. Shini led the celebration of the achievements and impact of King’s alumni, recognising graduates whose work is making a difference across industries and communities.

Deputy Governor Dave Ramsden

In January, King’s welcomed Dave Ramsden, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, to King’s Business School. Speaking at Bush House, he shared insights on how the Bank of England is responding to changes in the financial system and the importance of maintaining confidence and stability as finance continues to evolve.

Halla Tómasdóttir, President of Iceland

We were delighted to welcome the President of Iceland, Halla Tómasdóttir, to King’s in November for a Global Institute for Women’s Leadership event chaired by  former Prime Minister of Australia, Julia  Gillard AC. Marking the 50th anniversary of Iceland’s women’s strike, the discussion highlighted the enduring impact of collective action and called for courageous leadership to drive progress on gender equality and climate action.

His Excellency Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia

King’s participated in high‑level discussions with His Excellency Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, to advance collaboration between UK and Indonesian universities. The talks explored shared priorities in education, research and innovation, with a particular focus on expanding transnational education and supporting Indonesia’s ambitions for new world‑class universities.

The Rt Hon. Lisa Nandy MP

The Rt Hon. Lisa Nandy MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, visited King’s in February to take part in an event examining cultural divisions and tensions across the UK. Speaking alongside academics and policy experts, she discussed findings from new research and reflected on the role of institutions and media in shaping public debate and social cohesion.

We were delighted to welcome Minister for the Digital Economy, Baroness Liz Lloyd, and Lord David Willetts, Chair of the Regulatory Innovation Office and Visiting Professor, to King’s earlier this year for the launch of a new Policy Institute paper on how regulatory reform can promote growth. Taking part in a round table, they discussed how regulatory reform can help unlock innovation, promote growth and strengthen the UK’s competitive position.
